Alerts from the WGAN Traffic Center:  Yarmouth - Intersection of Main and Portland street- A sinkhole has formed  at the intersction and while traffic is being allowed through there it will see some delays. (6:00 AM 06/26/08)

CONSTRUCTION ADVISORIES
 
Large section of I-295 closed for the summer: I-295 Southbound will be closed between Gardiner and Topsham for necessary repairs starting June 16th.   All lanes along this 18 mile stretch of I-295 south will be closed to ensure the project is completed in the safest and most efficient manner possible.  Traffic will be detoured onto the Maine Turnpike and Route 201.
 
 

 SOUTH PORTLAND

  • I-295 Exit 3 New Entrance Ramp: Construction of the new entrance ramp at Exit 3 of I-295 continues at Westbrook Street and West Broadway in South Portland. Night paving is scheduled for June 8 starting at 6:00pm, and again on June 9 and 10, starting at 7:00pm. Night paving for these three dates is planned to conclude by 6:00am the following mornings. All work is weather permitting, and delays are possible. The construction of the new entrance to I-295 northbound will provide improved, safer access to I-295 from East Broadway instead of Westbrook Street. 

PORTLAND 

  • Work on the Ocean Avenue Phases III and IV Reconstruction project is scheduled to begin on April 7, 2008 and continue through the spring and much of the summer. The project area is Ocean Avenue between Rainbow Mall Road and Ocean Ridge Road . Construction work may cause travel delays; therefore, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
  • Roadwork on Deering avenue will be incurring delays. (Posted 4/28/08)
  • Paving on Commercial Street under the Overpass will cause traffic to be delayed. (Posted 6/24/08)
  • From July 1st to July 3rd, beginning at 4:00 AM and ending at 7:00 PM, sections of Outer Congress Street at Hobart Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic for both directions to allow for paving repairs to the street as well as rail repair by Pan Am to train tracks.  

 FALMOUTH

  • Merrills Bridge on Falmouth Road is closed as crews remove and replace the bridge.  Traffic in that area is being re-routed to the Leighton Road.  (4/28/08)
  • Overpass on Leighton Road closed for bridge work. (5/15/08)
  • Both bridges on Mountain Road and Hurricane Road are closed for reconstruction. (6/23/08)
  •  Middle Road in Falmouth, between Pleasant Hill Road and the Presumpscot River Bridge, goes under construction today (6/30/08)

SCARBOROUGH 

  • Holmes Road will be closed for construction form payne Rd to Beech Ridge Rd until the end of the month (6/10/08)
  • Maple Avenue is closed off to all but local traffic for storm drian work between Rte 1 and 114 (6/24/08)

 GORHAM

  • Roadwork at the Route 202 traffic circle will cause delays to traffic. (6/10/08)
  • Roadwork near the intersection of rte 237 and rte 25 will incur delays as well. (6/05/08)

FREEPORT

  • MaineDOT announced that CPM Constructors of Freeport will be working on four road improvement projects in Freeport early this summer. Work on three of the projects is expected to be complete by the end of June, and the fourth is expected to be done by mid-July.  Crews will be repaving a section of Route 1 between West Street and Mallett Drive. Crews will also repave Mallet Drive between Main Street and I-295; and repave South Street between Bow Street and West Street. Crews will also make improvements to drainage systems and guardrails along these roads. Crews will also repave the I-295 Exit 22 northbound ramp and reconfigure the ramp to improve safety.
 
MAINE TURNPIKE UPDATES   

This schedule of lane closures could be changed due to weather conditions or unanticipated events. Traffic should flow smoothly on all other sections of the Maine Turnpike.
