Mike Violette joined The WGAN Morning News in August 2004. He is a native Mainer, born in Farmington. Mike grew up in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School. After that he headed to the University of Maine at Augusta for two years and then graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. After pumping gas, driving a truck, working as a mason tender, and as a meter reader for the Kennebec Water District, Mike got into radio full time in 1984 at WTVL in Waterville.
At WTVL Mike had to do it all, serving as a DJ, sportscaster, news anchor, and anything else that came up. In 1986 Mike began a long run of morning radio experience. He found an on-air partner and they took over as the morning disc jockeys at WTVL. After that they worked together doing the morning shows at two more music stations. Then in January of 2002 Mike and his partner jumped over to talk radio. They created and hosted "Maine in the Morning" on The Voice of Maine News/Talk Network.
Mike and his wife, Anne Marie, have two children. Their daughter Jessica is a Registered Nurse in Boston. Their son, Peter, is a sophomore at Poland Regional High School.
Mike is also a sports fanatic with a lifelong devotion to the "big four" in New England, the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. Because of that his life has been filled with the agony and the ecstasy. Mike enjoys reading, golf and hanging out with his kids, who still seem to like him. He'd also like to let you know that "The Godfather" is the greatest movie of all time.
