Ken's View

IS THIS CHANGE OR HOPE?

President elect Barack Obama has begun selecting members of his administration. And, surprise, surprise, a huge hunk of his appointees thus far appear to be associate with the Clintons (including, of course Hillary as Secretary of State). Is this the change that Obama promised (and the Obama supporters voted for?).

First let me say that I am glad that these are the people Obama is appointing. I have said before that in my opinion Jimmy Carter was a great man, but a poor president, because he brought outsiders to Washington instead of utilizing those who know their way around the capitol.

However, despite the fact that the Obama insiders say that change is in policy, NOT in personnel, it is the people who make the policy. Thus, if Obama supporters are going to be honest about this (no comment necessary), they would acknowledge that this is NOT change, even if it may be good.

That's what I think. Please feel free to go back to the WGAN Morning News page and click on "Email Ken" to tell me what YOU think.

Ramblin' on..,

Headline:

"Barack Obama wins Presidency"   My friends, both liberal and conservative, have sent me emails and stopped me on the street to ask me if I'm ok, well of course I'm ok.  I've had at least 6 months to condition myself that The Messiah was going to be elected President.  Special thanks go out to the mainstream media for being in Mr. Obama's back pocket and looking past his past, etc.  An assist to Mr. G.W. Bush, Warshington, DC for screwing things up so bad that no Republican could ever win in '08.

Headline:

"Obama gets House and Senate but vows to be bipartisan"

What the hell is up with that?  Barry, my friend, why be bipartisan?  You got everything your way, you were the most liberal member of the US Senate and never showed any inclination of being bipartisan, so why start now?  If you've got it, flaunt it baby!   Americans want to go liberal so give it to 'em.  Free healthcare, free everything.  Fairness Doctrine?  Damn straight!  Open borders?  Absolutely, after all McCain wanted it!  Seriously, Obama has an agenda of things he thinks will make the country better and if so, get them on the books and don't worry what the GOP thinks.  If the roles were reversed I'd say the same thing.

Headline:

"Casino for Oxford County fails!  Racino for Scarborough Downs fails"

I'm starting a petition drive to get signatures to outlaw future petition drives to get signatures to have more casinos.  I can't take it anymore, enough rejection!  I love casinos and think everyone should have one if they want whether they're Indians or otherwise but please no more casino proposals in my lifetime.  But, I'll bet someone tries it again.

Headline:

"Collins kicks Allen's a**"

Thank god she put him out of his misery.  Have you ever seen a more pathetic scene than Allen, his wife and daughter at that press conference talking about how Susan Collins was a bad person for pointing out that Allen missed votes and never sponsored any bills in DC?  Unbelievable!  Bad campaign, bad candidate and in the end bad advice.  I don't agree with Chellie Pingree's politics but she'll be a much better congressperson than Tommy Boy.  A nice hack job from Obama awaits Allen.  And no, he'll never get elected Governor.

Thank goodness it's all over!
